Crimson Peak

Since the exit ofThor , Tom Hiddleston has been live the world over for his role as Loki , which he ’s reprised twice now ( inThe AvengersandThor : The Dark World ) . But the actor is also quite well known for his more striking work , having acted on the stage , inWar Horse , Only Lovers leave Alive , and many more films .

In the upcoming Gothic romanticism film from Guillermo del Toro , Crimson Peak , he playsSir Thomas Sharpe , a complicated individual - formerly of substance - with a mysterious past and even more mysterious motives .

latterly , we had the opportunity to interview Hiddleston about his role , but we also talked about what he think Loki ’s been up to sinceThor 2and whether or not he expects he ’ll show up inThe Avengers : Infinity War Part 1or2 .

Screen Rant : You are so well at play unfit guys in a really endearing way of life . evidently Loki in the Marvel movies and Sir Thomas Sharpe in this one . Do you observe that you prefer playing " not - so - good " guy to the more conventionally heroic ?

Tom Hiddleston : I actually love them all , to be honest . It ’s a cliche , but it ’s rightful . Variety is the spice of life history . And when I acquire into playacting , I never wanted to play one type of role . The actors I loved the most uprise up were people who could move between genres , between grapheme type . It just happens that Thomas Sharpe in this and Loki are a little turn dark , but … I have work some lighter grapheme .

SR : Yeah , yeah . Hammer Horror movies were such a gravid part of the British film diligence , and Crimson Peak gives off a really wonderful Hammer Horror vibration , in my thought . Did you watch out those movies arise up and do you have a favourite ?

TH : I did n’t so much , actually . I came to all that material a scrap later . So my brainchild for this are mostly literary , like   Daphne du Maurier ' Rebecca ' and ' Jane Eyre ' and ' The Mysteries of Udolpho ' by Ann Radcliffe . But Guillermo turned me on to all that great Peter Cushing stuff , and John Barrymoore and Christopher Lee and all those great moving-picture show . I should go back . I should go back and watch .

SR : Yeah , they ’re bully . They ’re really near . I believe thatThor 3is your next big Marvel project .

TH : I think so . I mean , I do n’t know -

SR : They have n’t let you know yet .

TH : No , they have n’t , so we ’ll see [ laugh ] .

SR : Well , what do you think Loki ’s been doing besides profess to be Anthony Hopkins ?

TH:[Laughter ] That ’s all I know that he ’s been doing . I mean , I ’m interested to see what ’s happened in the time between . I wish to consider that actually he runs Asgard moderately well . The trains work on time and he hold start the streets unclouded . [ Laughter ] I aboveboard do n’t be intimate .

SR : Finally , there ’s a lot of speculation that the next coupleAvengersmovies will be a mammoth crossover event and that a lot of fictitious character from all the moving-picture show will appear in it . Can we expect to see Loki pop up in that at some point , or do you require to be in that movie ?

TH : You know , I really do not know . I bid there was something I could tell you . I have n’t spoken to anyone at Marvel for about two years . That universe is boom at such a pace , so … your guessing is as good as mine .
