TheThorfranchise has never been known for breaking newfangled ground , butcritics have been praisingThor : Ragnarokfor its coloured artistic and imaginative humor . All told , it could terminate up eclipse even theGuardians of the Galaxyfranchise for sheer absurdism . But all that idiosyncratic filmmaking would be nothing without a cast willing to make alongside the director .

We ’ve learn for awhile now that the form ofThor : Ragnarokwas encounraged to improvise and lend themselves more into their purpose . This is most obvious with Jeff Goldblum ’s Grandmaster , which shares many of the role player ’s singular traits . Thor , however , is said to be more like Chris Hemsworth than any other iteration of the character . For novel submarine Valkyrie , this mental process involved Thompson and Waititi design the MCU version of the reference together .
" It was quite collaborative but [ Taika ] and I got on from the minute we met each other . He sky Valkyrie as sort of the Han Solo over the picture and so I sort of knew the space that she wanted to fill , and we require to subvert any sort of bromide in our portrayal of her . I say ‘ ours ' because he was really built-in to that . ”
other reviews have made it cleared that Thompson ’s Valkyrie stands out as a highlight in the film thanks to her hard character . Waititi and Thompson both are no unknown to invert cliches and being inventive with their character workplace , and the pairing of the director and actor seems to have paid off . Valkyrie ’s loner status could also allow her to pop up in future cosmic Marvel films , but first she ’ll be making her pull ahead debut inThor : Ragnarok .
