Thor’s Eye
The other marked change toRagnarokfrom its poke is Thor ’s eye . The money shot of most promotional material since SDCC has been a lightning - spark off Thor flying down onto the rainbow bridge quick to do engagement against Hela , both his eyes gentle . This shaft is in the movie , but with one notable conflict : by this point he ’s lose an eye . During the start of their last face-off , Hela violently ( but bloodlessly ) slices out Thor ’s right eye , essentially establish his ascension to the throne as the new Loki in the photographic film ’s final moments .
Because the poke scene was so spectacular , many will likely be wondering whether this was always set to fall out or is just a smash - on effect of sample to make Odin ’s death more aroused . However , we can give away it was always the plan . WhenScreen Rantvisited the set ofRagnaroklast year , Marvel revealed construct art for the variety ; becoming Odin was clearly always the ending plot , and this visual pool stick was a key part of it .

The Other Missing Finale Footage
While we can feel good in the mazed middle always being part of the programme , there are still signs of some adjustments to the final action scene . The puzzler trailer featured the now - iconic shot of Loki walking in slow - motion along an Asgardian nosepiece flipping two knife . By the headdress and background , this is clearly during the net assault on Asgard , but at no point does Loki wind up in this sort of area ( it looks to be from the evacuation of the public ) . There ’s also the posterior poke ’s shot of Thor , Loki , Hulk and Valkyrie brook to oppose Hela on the Bifrost . A neat summation of the final act it may be , but no such wide-eyed showdown happens ; Loki arrives after the engagement ’s started , then Hulk ’s cark by Fenrir , then the kingdom ’s being play down by Surtur .
This is slight but compelling grounds that some morphologic changes were made to the ending , or at least a four - on - one draw was trimmed in favour of each character ’s individual electric arc resolving . There ’s not on the dot any damage to the final act from this , nor does it really neuter what pass , but it ’s a conspicuous alteration all the same .
It ’s extravagantly clean that Taika Waititi ’s sight forThor : Ragnarokhas remained consistent throughout yield , with small charge from Marvel . These drone modification , while singular , do n’t really offer much to modify that view - the New York - Norway switch is intended to make the film more emotional , but otherwise the shifts play into his vision for this film and the characters going forward .
