Thor : Ragnarokdirector Taika Waititi has explain why the placement of one of the movie ’s key scenes was altered late in the solar day . The third solo picnic for Marvel ’s God of Thunder is a markedly morecomedic venturethan the previous two movies in the serial publication but has been met with bothfinancial successand critical acclaim thus far . Ragnaroksees Thor ( Chris Hemsworth ) team up with Mark Ruffalo ’s Hulk , Tom Hiddleston ’s Loki , and Tessa Thompson ’s Valkyrie to battle the mighty Goddess of Death , Hela , played by Cate Blanchett .

Here ’s what Waititi offeredEmpireon the subject area :
" What we wanted primitively was for Thor and Loki to see Odin in New York , last on the streets , Fisher Kingstyle … There was something really cool and interesting about that , and I think that might be on the DVD , that version . But something about having him there and then dying made a lot of interview in our test screening feel too sorry for him . It was such a bummer seeing the great king of Asgard stuck in New York . We opt the idea he ’d be in some mystical Norse surroundings . ”
Waititi ’s reveal is another reminder of the significant influence motion picture test screenings have on the finished mathematical product but in this pillow slip , it ’s perhaps well-situated to see why the variety was implemented . In the finished film , Thor and Loki see their Dad in Norway and the setting feels like an apt surround for the King of Asgard to drop his last moments . The location also give way the impression that Odin is there volitionally and is , quite candidly , enjoy the peace and quiet of not induce his planet occupy every five minutes . If the original version of the scene had been retained , it ’s unlikely that these same emotions would ’ve been communicate and this could ’ve felt awkward against the otherwise jovial tone ofThor : Ragnarok .
With that say , there may be some buff who would ’ve preferred to see the original vision of Taika Waititi and writers Eric Pearson , Craig Kyle , and Christopher Yost retained . Although the Norse setting may have been more meet in this instance in full term of aroused impact , the aspect has come in for criticism for feeling a piffling too fake . Whether this would ’ve been the shell if the scene had been set in Norway from the start , devotee will likely never know , but at least Waititi seems to think the original scene will be included on the videodisk firing .
