However , evenThor : Ragnarokhad its flaws , the big one being how it handled Odin ’s death . As it turns out , the Allfather ’s death was n’t always peaceful , and it was originally very emotionally load … and was much unspoilt .
Thor: Ragnarok - Why Odin’s Original Death Was Better
At the end ofThor : The Dark World , it was break that Loki had taken his Father-God ’s place as ruler of Asgard , and it was unknown if the real Odin was still animated . Thor : Ragnaroksolved the mystery and ascertain Thor and Loki going back to Earth , where they found their begetter with the supporter of Stephen Strange . Odin was exile to Earth by Loki , who put a spell on him and leave him at a retirement home in New York City . The place was destroy some fourth dimension after , and Odin was able to overcome Loki ’s enchantment , but instead of recall to Asgard , he determine to stay on Earth . Odin was found in Norway , and once his sons were by his side , he explain that he was come near the end of his liveliness , and that his death was going to releasehis oldest shaver : Hela . After telling his son he make out them , he died and his spirit ascend to Valhalla . Not long after , Hela get in and chaos begin . Though the scene is beautifully shot and it ’s a nice moment between Padre and sons , it was called out for lack emotional weight , especially after everything they all extend through .
Odin ’s original death inThor : Ragnarokwas manner different . In it , Thor and Loki are walking in the streets of New York and observe a dispossessed Odin in an back street . Odin recognizes them but begins to ramble about Asgard not being real and Ragnarok andHela ’s arrival . He then transplant his index as Billie Jean King to Thor , andHelaarrives . After a brief opposition , Hela stabs Odin , and when Thor and Loki prepare to attack , she capture Mjolnir and destroys it , just like in the picture show . The scene was cut and reshot as test hearing found it to be too distressing and even felt “ too meritless ” for Odin . Though it ’s easy to see why they react like that as the vista is pretty saturnine , even if it tries to add together a scrap of humor , it ’s precisely that what have it better . The Odin / Thor / Loki relationship was complicated , and a stateless Odin killed by his own daughter would have impart more emotion not only to the arcs of Thor and Loki but also to the film in oecumenical , bringing some drama amidst all the humor .
Of of course , there are fans who find the concluding version of Odin ’s death to be more fitting , as it felt like the right thing to have the Allfather at long last enjoy some peace and leaving on good damage with his sons , but ultimately , the scene did n’t have the encroachment it should have had . Odin ’s dying is one of the few complaints there are when it comes toThor : Ragnarok , and though it ’s not one that fans are n’t uncoerced to forgive , it does stand out as a final setting in a character ’s plot line that could have been manage well .
