She literally got as far as leading an army up to the Bifrost before realise Heimdall had stolen the enchanted sword Hofund , which meant the Bifrost could not be open up . Heimdall and his Resistance had successfully trapped the Goddess of Death on Asgard , meaning her ambitiousness of galactic conquest were thwarted . The rest of the film watch Hela ’s armies scouring Asgard , searching for Heimdall and the sword that would allow her to launch the Bifrost .
The Tesseract , however , is the Space Stone . As shown inThe Avengers , its baron can be used to spread out portals immense enough for full United States Army to make their way through . And at the end ofThe Avengers , Thor was able to operate the Tesseract and habituate its mightiness to transfer himself and Loki directly to Asgard - meaning it does n’t seem too difficult for an Asgardian to use it . Hela was n’t trap on Asgard after all ; in fact , she ’d already walk directly past the artifact that would have allowed her to go around the Bifrost . Heimdall ’s theft of the sword should have been nothing more than a modest inconvenience , forcing Hela to march her U. S. Army back down the Bifrost and into Odin ’s Vault .
queerly enough , Heimdall too should have know how powerful the Tesseract is . According to theThor : The Dark World Preludetie - in comic , Odin used the Tesseract to rebuild the Bifrost . Which mean that even if Hela did n’t want to use the Tesseract itself , she could have just created anew Bifrost bridgewith it .

The Infinity Gauntlet gag inThor : Ragnarokwas a humorous way for Marvel to lampshade their forgotten Easter ball , but it nevertheless created multiple new persistence issue , including ones for the film ’s plot logic . Marvel would belike have been wise to bound off that scene all .
