In both of the first two Thor standalone movies place within the Marvel Cinematic Universe , Thor has team up with fellow comical book character , though typically the warrior Three . Taika Waititi’sThor : Ragnarokgoes in a different direction instead , having the God of Thunder work with his fellow Avengers mate Bruce Banner aka the Hulk ( Mark Ruffalo ) and his brother , the God of Mischief Loki ( Tom Hiddleston ) .
However , Thor : Ragnarokalso introduces an completely raw fictitious character to the MCU who joins violence with Thor so as to defeat the Goddess of Death , Hela ( Cate Blanchett ): Valkyrie . WhenThompson was range as Valkyrie , there was an outcry among a sure group of fans that the actress does n’t resemble the comical book character ’s Hellenic look . The original Valkyrie , Brunnhilde , is white with long blonde haircloth in the comics , while Thompson is , obviously , not . It ’s not explicitly stated that this blond Valkyrie is Brunnhilde , but her appearing and the fact that she ’s the only other Valkyrie besides Thompson ’s fictional character who gets any real focusing during the flashback seems to signal this is an Easter egg have the classic comical book of account case . But until Waititi , Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige , or someone else involved in the production ofThor : Ragnarokconfirms either way , we wo n’t hump for sure if this truly is Brunnhilde .
Of of course , those fans who want to see Brunnhilde join the MCU in earnest are probably hope the blonde Valkyrie inRagnarokisn’t Brunnhilde . But even if it is n’t , there ’s no guarantee Brunnhilde will be preface as a name character so long as Thompson ’s Valkyrie is around . For now , we knowThompson ’s Valkyrie will be returningforAvengers : Infinity War , and perhaps even for another Thor movie , maybe in a starring role as the female Thor .
