Talking with Fourteenth Doctor actor David Tennant and executive manufacturer Phil Collinson , the showrunner excuse how these threats may show up in multiple future season . Davies : You know , David , he says at the final stage , “ My host are come . ”
Tennant : Yes .
Humphrey Davy : They are . And so , every so often we get a chance to do an episode that ’s kind - of supernatural , not exactly supernatural , but where all the formula are suspend .
Tennant : Yes , yes . That ’s what so creepy-crawly about this one .

How Big A Threat Will The Toymaker’s Minions Be?
Davies ' confirmation that the antagonist ’s dangerous allies are coming shows the villain ’s threat will have import for Gatwa ’s run as the Doctor . Giventhe Toymaker ’s ability to wangle realityand create his own worlds , it ’s likely his so - called " legions " have similar ability . If the Fifteenth Doctor is force to crusade multiple beings like him at the same time , then it could prove to be the most hard fight the character has ever faced .
However , it ’s possible Gatwa ’s Doctor wo n’t have to face these being on his own . Since theFifteenth Doctor came from a bismuth - contemporaries , it means Tennant ’s Fourteenth Doctor is still around , currently enjoy a quiet life sentence in Paris . While this seems to give his story a right ending , the threat of the Toymaker ’s minion could launch him out of retirement for another adventure alongside the main MD .
