Summary

House of the Dragonseason 2 , episode 6 continues the fallout from Rook ’s Rest and the gradual build to the finale with another solid , if unspectacular , outing . TheGame of Thronesprequel has settled back into the same slower , early season rhythm it had before theDance of the Dragonsexploded into life in episode 4 , but that ’s not a spoiled thing . There ’s some intriguing apparatus and potent character growing in King ’s Landing , Harrenhal , and on Dragonstone , although not everything work .

The King’s Landing Drama Is Great In House Of The Dragon Season 2, Episode 6

It’s Similar To Game Of Thrones Season 2 In This Regard

Similar toGame of Thronesseason 2 ( and other time of year , but that was particularly peak for it),the King ’s landing place plot line are whereHouse of the Dragonseason 2 is doing a lot of its secure piece of work . That ’s not too much of a surprisal , as it ’s the capital where so many of the political intrigue happen , and where many of the most complex character reference are situated .

Elsewhere in King ’s landing place , the riot are a brutal go that add a jolt of importunity to the proceedings .

There ’s lots of great theatrical role employment and interplay between different pair of actors here . That goes from Alicent Hightower and her boy , Aemond , on to Aemond and his brother , King Aegon , and then Aegon and Larys Strong . Each of these adds to the drama and intrigue and builds on their exist relationships . It ’s these kind of modest conversation where power is decidedand where real change can happen , so while each is relatively small , they ’re bewitching to watch as the various schemes and political battles unfold .

Elsewhere in King ’s landing place , the riots are a brutal routine that add a jolt of urging to the proceedings . The show has been increasingly setting this up with characters such asHugh Hammerand Ulf White , and it lastly seethe over allows for a knock-down depiction of the smallfolk ’s struggles . It does a good task of ca-ca you worried for Helaena , in particular , because she ’s so decent , but without aim aside from the plight of the people , such as the dismay shot of the man ’s hand being cut off , and it ’s all staged really well by director Andrij Parekh .

House of the Dragon is set before Game of Thrones , but time jumps go out some confused about how long it will breed . Here ’s the HotD timeline explicate .

The Return Of Viserys Was Needed For Daemon’s Story

More Of Paddy Considine Is Never A Bad Thing

Although there have been complaints , I ’ve mostly enjoyed Daemon Targaryen ’s tale in the past few episodes , with an interesting nosedive into his head ( and some confutative bedroom trick ) . However , I call up another sequence of that could have been unfold it a bite too much , if not for the return of Paddy Considine as King Viserys I Targaryen .

Viserys was the best persona in season 1 , andConsidine gave one of the best single - season performances I ’ve find out in theGame of Thronesfranchise , so it ’s neat to see him back and not having missed a beat with his return . Viserys is the fix person in Daemon ’s arc . Everything has been because of or in response to him in some way , so it was very important to see him once again .

I ’m not sure if there should be more sight for Daemon , as this feels like a warm conclusion point for them .

Daemon ’s imagination of Viserys are great for impart his arc full circle . There ’s clear a huge amount of ruefulness and sorrow feel for how he comport and that he was n’t there for his chum when he could ’ve been , and how that , in play , helped be him the pennant he ’d wanted . I ’m not sure if there should be more imaginativeness for Daemon , as this feels like a strong conclusion point for them .

Daemon ’s visions in House of the Dragon time of year 2 , episode 3 & 4 revealed some abrasive truths about the Targaryen prince and teased major future events .

The Team Black Storylines Are More Of A Mixed Bag

There’s A Lot Going On, And It Doesn’t All Work

Daemon away , things were mostly firm elsewhere forRhaenyra ’s Team Black . Having miserable Steffon Darklyn endeavor to exact a dragon was destined to end in disaster , but it ’s a strong scenery and , while we ’ve not spent much time with him , does make you associate with and feel for his fictitious character . It also go well to set up the case at the end of the episode , with Addam of Hull becoming Seasmoke ’s new passenger .

Speaking of Addam , I thought the climactic chronological succession with Seasmoke was well done and somewhat entertaining , but I would n’t say the same for the earlier scenes with Alyn . I like both of the characters , butthere are only so many times we can see Alyn and Corlys feature more or less the same abbreviated conversationabout shape for him , in the accurate same shipyard place setting , before it starts to become really repetitive .

I do think the episode ends on a strong note , and not just with Addam and Seasmoke , but with Rhaenyra and Mysaria .

Similarly , so far , the Vale plot line is n’t doing much for me . I feel a bit for Phoebe Campbell , as they ’ve not been render a vast amount to do out ofHouse of the Dragon ’s main hurl member . Their public presentation as Rhaena is good , but the character has been underdeveloped , so a story wherein it ’s just them , some young Thomas Kid , and a new fiber who has yet to really beam mean value there ’s not a lot to engage with there .

I do think the episode finish on a secure banknote , and not just with Addam and Seasmoke , but with Rhaenyra and Mysaria . Their conversation , and Mysaria ’s backstory in finicky , adds a lot of depth to the reference , and their osculation was unexpected but make a caboodle of sensation and , again , work to give them more layers . I ’m not indisputable where that ’s going to go , and it ’s strange to think there are only two sequence left , but I ’m intrigue to see it play out asHouse of the Dragonseason 2 begins to wrap thing up .
