Warning ! Spoilers forwards for Green Arrow # 13!I really hate to say it , but I do n’t know if theJustice League’straitor is going to be able to come back from his sudden pivot . Watching Oliver Queen come back and reconstruct his kinsfolk has been one of the best thing about the Dawn of DC era , but it looks like that metre is over .
Green Arrow struck a dealwith the devil to protect his family and while I for sure read his line of intellection , things have just taken a grim turn . With just one sentence , Oliver Queen has put his total time to come in jeopardy , risking his family , his friend , and potentially his own lifeas Amanda Waller get hold of the DC Universeby violence .
Green Arrow Confirms He ‘Believes in Waller’
Green Arrow # 13by Joshua Williamson , Amancay Nahuelpan , Romulo Fajardo Jr. , and Troy Peteri afford up with Team Arrow all together on their brand - raw base , Arrow Island , and everything seems proficient . The three start up to make an escapeuntil Roy is stop by Green Arrow .
Arsenal is understandably garbled , both by Green Arrow ’s action at law and his new costume . Roy take if Waller is blackmailing him , but Oliver denies such things , saying he and Waller are “ solid ” . Oliver says that he ’s no longer Green Arrow and gives everything out to his former buddy . But all Arsenal wants is to have it off what the hell is happening , yetGreen Arrow has nothing to say other than “ I believe in Waller ” . Roy taste one final time to offer his former wise man help and is repay by Queen kicking his better half out the window .
Green Arrow’s Downfall Has Been Coming
As someone who ’s been follow much of the output throughout the Dawn of DC , Green Arrowwas a title I ’ve been heavily vest in . It finally put Oliver back into the spotlight after giving him a raw deal during Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths , and it made it readable from issue one that it was n’t just an Oliver rule book , it was a Team Arrow book . calendar month by month , I read this comic , waiting for Green Arrow to make it back home and be reunited with his family .
As 2023 drew to a close , Oliver last made it back home , but he still had laborious work to do . Amanda Waller was still manipulating Team Arrow , even after she make a motion on to bigger and good things as the Bureau of Sovereignty ’s head . Green Arrow present Waller at the Hall of Order , need resolution for why she control his family and continue him apart . Waller was amazingly forthright with Queen and told him that a war was occur . Even more surprising , Waller want Green Arrow on her side .
Oliver made his shocking deal with Waller inGreen Arrow # 9 ( 2024 ) !
In exchange for keep his family secure and preventing any further use from Waller ( as well as a chance to plow with his bane Merlyn ) , Green Arrow agreed to work with her and embarked on his first mission for her : Breaking into an honest-to-goodness Justice League base to pander the Sanctuary files for Waller . Green Arrow successfully got the files , but secernate Roy that he was working a ‘ long con’and implored his former sidekick to trust him .
Green Arrow’s Reputation is Holding On By a Thread
Do I severely think that Green Arrow has gone all - in working for Amanda Waller ? Well , I do n’t need to . The guy expend the better part of his career scrap against authoritarians and fascists , so why the blaze would he change that now ? But this run of Green Arrow has made one thing clear : Oliver has learned to love and value his family more than he ever has . His first and foremost priority is protecting them andif that means Green Arrow has to knead with Waller , I suppose I can see that driving him .
… Green Arrow work with Waller as she scheme to de - tycoon and throw all of his friends and allies in jail is , honestly , a perturb hatful .
But conceive in Amanda Waller ? Her entire need throughout the entire Dawn of DC era has been to eliminate metahumans no matter what ! Granted , Green Arrow has had his beef cattle with various heroes over the long time ( Flash , Hawkman , etc ) . But disagreeing with them over politics and the estimable ways to serve the biotic community is a far cry from round them up and de - powering them ( as is Amanda Waller ’s require inAbsolute Power ) . That said , whether Oliver genuinely believes in Waller or not is tautological . just working with her issomething that could ruin Green Arrow forever .
Could Oliver really be a Waller supporter ? Unlikely , since he ’s already admitted to playing double federal agent to his allies . However , Green Arrow working with Waller as she scheme to de - power and throw all of his friends and allies in gaol is , frankly , a perturbing slew . Waller is very potential to get someone killed with her plan . And whether Oliver is talk through one’s hat his support or it ’s substantial does n’t matter . He ’s throw his hat into Waller ’s annulus at the bad potential meter , andthat ’s go to have a serious impact on Green Arrow pass forwards .
I’m Hoping for the Best for Green Arrow But It’s Hard
I like Green Arrow and I care seeing him with his syndicate . But catch him declare his young alliance to Roy is hard to get the picture . Even if this is just Oliver trying to subvert Waller ’s plans and secretly write the sidereal day , I do n’t know if it ’s worth the botheration and confusion it ’s live to do his allies . As Absolute Power brings massive variety to the DC Universe , all I can go for for is that the iconicJustice Leaguerreveals he ’s had a plan in mind , because if he does n’t , Green Arrow might have destroyed everything he ’s ever held dear .
